AIPE/AMERICAN ACADEMY FOUNDATION
2021 John C. Potts Leadership Development Scholarship
The AIPE/American Academy Foundation is sponsoring scholarships to cover tuition for first-year students at the 2021 NRPA Directors School which will be held virtually. The two-year Directors School program is designed to prepare new and potential directors for the challenges of leading and managing effectively.
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2021 “Pottsie” Leadership Development Scholarships, which honors the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration’s former Executive Director, John C. Potts. Your nomination must be supported by a current member of the American Academy for Park & Recreation Administration or by a graduate of the Directors School. Eligible applicants must be a current member of NRPA.
The scholarship is intended to support professional-agency directors or superintendents or assistant/deputy directors and mid-level managers who desire to be agency directors. Applicants should have demonstrated leadership and management potential within their organizations toward their goal of being an effective director, but do not have the financial resources to apply to the Directors School. The application must include a letter from your organization’s director (or your supervisor if you are the director) that states the organization does not have the financial resources to send you to the 2021 Directors School but if you receive this scholarship your organization will financially support you to attend year two of this school.
To apply for a "Pottsie" scholarship, complete an on-line application no later than March 26, 2021.
